Our Lady of the Woods (Ohio)

A group home whose objectives and goals are to promote each individual resident’s maximum level of independence and present level of functioning; maintain each individual in the community as long as possible; and avoid premature or inappropriate institutionalization. The facility is located in Cincinnati, Ohio, nestled on 2.5 acres of land among beautiful white oak trees and a short distance from shops, bus lines, churches, and hospitals. The facility has 20 individual rooms, each equipped to meet the needs of persons 55 or older, who have a high decree of independence. A resident manager is on-site 24 hours a day. Besides the private rooms, the facility contains a central dining room where home cooked meals are served family style from the large kitchen; a chapel for the daily religious services; a well-stocked library; two game rooms; two television rooms; two spacious lounges; and two outside balconies.

The monthly rental fee includes three meals per day, coffee hours, snacks, housekeeping, laundry, and transportation to doctor’s appointments. The residents can also avail themselves of arts and crafts activities; hair care services; day trips; and transportation for shopping.

Needs: Funding for the upkeep of the housing facilities, maintenance of the transportation vehicles, and the salaries of the Director and kitchen staff.
