Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation (New York)
As a way of implementing their charism with regards to Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation, the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor have actively advocated to motivate themselves and others to seek justice for the poor, for the environment, and for peace. This ministry calls the Sisters first to transform themselves by raising their consciousness and that of others by disseminating information and calling for suggested actions.
They collaborate with other groups in order to strengthen their ability to promote JPIC. In union with other religious Congregations worldwide, they have signed a “Declaration for Peace” promoting the rights of woman and children, relieving the debt of poor countries, cultivating a culture of peace, and preservation of the Community of Life.
This group actively collaborates with other
Franciscans through Franciscans International, a non-governmental
organization with General Consultative status at the UN.
Needs: Funding for stipends to support Sisters living and travel
expenses.
