House of Contemplation (New York)
The House of Contemplation is a spiritual reflection center sponsored by the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor. It is a quiet, peaceful, and simple place where individuals and small groups are welcomed to realize more deeply what it means to dwell in God's WORD and be prophetic witnesses of that Word. The more we are permeated by God's Word, the more Jesus, the Word, is able to work through us to heal the wounds of the world.
The Sisters wish to share with you this contemplative and healing atmosphere located in a beautiful wooded part of Warwick, NY, where the sounds of the brook, trees and winds and all creation draw us into their rhythm.
We offer monthly days of prayer and weekends of contemplation. Directed retreats, private retreats and hermitage experiences are available. The Sisters are also available for spiritual direction.
We invite those discerning a possible call to religious life for a live-in experience of community. We also offer regular opportunities for young adults to gather for holistic personal development as disciples of Jesus.
