The Jericho Project (Messina)

The program works in cooperation with the Department of Corrections at the Criminal Psychiatric Hospital to continue the rehabilitation process of targeted patients chosen from among the poorest and most alone, with the ultimate goal of improving their quality of life and the gradual process of their return to their place of origin and mainstream society. The project allows a group of volunteers to take responsibility for these most at-risk patients through personalized rehabilitation plans of therapy and care. In addition certain patients will be given the opportunity to work outside of the hospital.

Needs: Funding for the rehabilitation of mentally ill patients living in poverty and loneliness by providing them with clothing, shoes, and personal items they are currently doing without; salaries for patients integrated into an external work situation; stipends for daily living requirements of Sisters involved in project
